Gentle Bye
Calm video limits for parents
Support & Help CenterWhat Gentle Bye Does
Gentle Bye lets a parent choose videos, arrange their order, set a total viewing limit, and pick what comes next. During the final 90 seconds, gentle reminders help prepare the child before playback pauses and the goodbye moment begins.
Getting Started
- Choose videos: Search for public YouTube videos or paste a supported YouTube link, then add up to 20 videos.
- Arrange the queue: Put the selected videos in the order you want them to play.
- Set the limit: Choose a total viewing time and the activity that comes next.
- Start Kids Mode: Videos play in order while Gentle Bye keeps track of the total session time.
- Say goodbye: When time expires, playback pauses and remains locked until the child completes the goodbye step.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I find a particular video?
Search is limited to public videos that YouTube reports as embeddable. A creator may disable embedded playback, remove a video, restrict it by region, or make it private. Try another public video or paste its YouTube link.
Why did a selected video fail to play?
Video availability can change after it is selected. Check your internet connection and try again. If a creator has disabled embedding or restricted the video, choose a different video.
How do I leave Kids Mode?
Use Face ID or Touch ID when prompted. If biometric authentication is unavailable or canceled, Gentle Bye provides a simple addition challenge for the parent.
Why did the screen rotate or change layout?
Kids Mode supports landscape playback, while setup works well in portrait. On iPad, Gentle Bye uses full-screen mode so the video, timer, and transition elements have enough room.
Does Gentle Bye block inappropriate videos?
Search requests use YouTube’s strict SafeSearch setting, but no automated filter is perfect. Search results are not guaranteed to be child-safe. A parent should review and select every video.
Does the app require an account?
No. Gentle Bye uses an anonymous installation identifier to operate sessions; it does not require a name, email address, or password.
How is session information handled?
Gentle Bye records limited anonymous session and playback information to operate and improve the experience. Parent feedback is optional. Read the Privacy Policy for details and deletion instructions.
